ચાલ મન!

વૃક્ષ કદાચ એમ પણ કહે-                                     
‘મને પહેલાં ચા-પાણી પાઓ
પછી જ છાંયો આપું”
કોયલ કદાચ આગ્રહ રાખે-
‘કોઈ સરસ જગ્ગા જોઈ મને ફલેટ બંધાવી આપો
પછી જ ટહુકો મૂકું”
થોડાક પૈસા વધુ મળે તો
નદી પોતાનું બધું જ પાણી
સામે કાંઠે ઠાલવી નાખે તો નવાઈ નહીં.
ચાલ મન ! એવા દેશમાં જઈએ
જ્યાં સૂરજને તડકા માટે લાંચ ન આપવી પડે !

Move on, dear heart!

The tree might well say-
‘first grease my outstretched palms
only then will  I give you shade
.”

The cuckoo could well insist-
‘Build me a high-rise in a picturesque locale
only then will I entertain you with my sweet calls”

For just a little more money
if th river were to empty all its water on the other side
it would be of no surprise at all.

Move on, dear heart! Let’s go to a country
where we can bask in the sun’s warmth without paying a bribe for it.
